Catherine: The Cat's Meow

This is my new friend Cat! I love her, and I practically forced her to pose for me. Her, Kiersten, and I were all taking pictures anyway, so why not do a little bloggy blog about it? hehe. Cat dressed very nice everyday, and I like how she mixed things together! So this is official documentation of good style. Yes, she is wearing my faux pearlies. I wonder if anyone noticed before I said anything... Well anyway, this is Cat. She loves Pac Sun, grungy things, and boho classics. Oh wait, look at those pictures above. Looks about right! These photos were taken in front of my apartment, and yes, we got a lot of strange looks from strangers. I hope you enjoyed this feature!

My Experience at Glamour & Glow

I don't own any of these photographs. They are rightfully labeled with the photographer who does.
I attended this show Saturday, September 14, 2013.
I tried taking photos without flash, obviously because it was a blacklight show, and it failed...So then, I started taking videos and pictures with my phone because my camera wasn't getting anything! Alas, I ended up using the photo's on Glamour & Glow's Facebook Page because any and every photo I took was practically unidentifiable.
I went with Shawn and a few friends, and I had so much fun! I was dancing the whole time and I was having a blast. It was supposed to be an "exotic bathing suit" show, but half the costumes weren't even relatable to bathing suits. I'm not complaining, it gave me an excuse to experience this amazing show! All the models are local as well as the artists who painted them. It was something I'll never forget.

I know that there are a lot of pictures, so I hope you enjoy them! ***Again, I do not own these photographs***

Sorry for not taking pictures in a little more of an artistic area! haha Maybe I'll get lucky next time when I want to do it, haha.

Tuesday Tips: 5 Ways to Fight Wrinkles Home Remedy Style

Everyone wants to look older until they get wrinkles. Believe it or not, you should already be starting the process to prevent them! You may not see much of a need to, or much improvement now, but you will definitely thank me in about 10-15 years!

Wear Sunscreen
  • People think that aging is the big factor with wrinkles, but actually, it's the sun. Yes, the sun's UV rays are very harmful to our skin, not only in the form of wrinkles, but in cancers, too.
  • Wearing sunscreen at all parts of the year, YES ALL, will help you maintain fresh and young looking skin. You might question why you soul wear sunscreen even in the winter; well, the snow radiates the sun's UV rays, and can be just as harmful as it is in the summer. Wearing sunscreen under your makeup from at least 10 a.m to 2 p.m should do the trick, according to M.D. Gary Rogers.

Sleep on Your Back
  • Years and years of sleeping with your face on your pillow will cause your face to stretch and move around your skin more, and therefore making it a little more lose each time.

Don't smoke.
  • This can be easier said than done with some people who have made smoking a habit. It will take a smoker 3 times the amount of special wrinkle creams to prevent or treat wrinkles, than a person who doesn't smoke. Chew on that for a bit.

  • There is nothing more important that keeping a moisturized face. Different skin types call for different products; however, moisturizing and being hydrated go hand in hand. If you have oily skin and can't exactly apply moisturizer without look like a mess, just drink a lot of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. If you have normal or dry skin, you should be drinking and moisturizing.

Self Awareness
  • Have you ever pulled on your face when putting on makeup? Or realized you were making a facial expression that used a lot of facial muscles? Or perhaps, you have rubbed creams, makeup, or soap on your face, instead of dabbing? These are all things that add (much more than you think) to the cause of early wrinkling. I personally already have tiny crows feet. I'm 18! I'm guilty of pulling my eyes to draw on liquid eyeliner wings. Be careful about resting your face on your hand in class/work, and dabbing instead of rubbing. It counts, trust me.

Tuesday Tip: How to Rid Yourself of Ingrown Hairs

If you claim to have never had an ingrown hair in your life, then you are surely mistaken. It's bound to happen to all of us and it's pretty much inevitable. What is an ingrown hair? Well, according to my home remedies handbook, ingrown hairs are hairs that don't break the skin's surface. This can be due to skin build up and lack of lost dead skin cells. Well anyway, the hair curls up under layers of skin and thus creating an ingrown hair. Everyone can experience this, however, people with naturally curly hair are at risk of experiencing it much more frequently. So let's get to the good stuff!

How to Prevent Ingrown Hairs?

Avoid Electric
  • Now, I don't know many girls that use electric razors to shave any part of their body, so I guess this one is directed at the guys. DON'T USE ELECTRIC. It will cause your hair to grow back in all different directions and make it harder for you to go with the natural growing direction when shaving. Using electric razors will increase chances of ingrown hairs.

Shave Frequently
  • Shaving more often won't only keep your face (guys) or legs (girls) smoother, but it will also help scrape away dead skin cells which will prevent ingrown hairs.

What to do When You Already Have an Ingrown Hair?

  • The last thing you want to do with an ingrown hair is try to pop it. You will make it bleed and it will scar! The more often you shave, the more likely it is you'l have an ingrown hair. So make sure to go WITH the grain when you're shaving to avoid razor burn and any future ingrown hairs.
Change your blade
  • If you have a double or triple track razor and you notice that you are consistently getting ingrown hairs, then you are shaving too close to the skin! Switch to a single track for a while and let your skin heal itself before constantly shaving it with close razors.

Lift them out

  • Take a clean safety pin and tweezers and carefully lift out any ingrown hairs. Don't pick or dig at them, they will scar!
Acne Medication
  • Make sure your skin is softened with warm water and then apply acne medication. Acne medicines include brands of (but not limited to) Clean and Clear, Nutrogena, Proactive, and others.
